Redesigned ‘At a Glance’ widget rolling out to Android devices

Google offers an “At a Glance” widget that shows you things like the date, the weather, and your plans on your home screen and lock screen. It is available on Pixel phones and some other devices. However, the widget on non-Pixel phones has an older design and offers less information than the one on Pixel phones. Google is working on a new design for the widget on non-pixel devices, which has been spotted by @AssembleDebug.

The new widget has a shape like a pill. It has the date and your plans on one side and the weather on the other. The widget also allows users to customize its appearance by choosing from three different styles – solid, transparent, and outline. Additionally, the widget can adapt its color to match the wallpaper and the system theme of the device.

The new widget differs from the one on Pixel phones in several aspects. It occupies more space on the screen but displays less information. It does not show how many minutes are left until an event starts but only shows the start time itself. It also uses a smaller font size for the text.

It is unclear when Google will release the new widget for all Android devices. But it seems to work well for some app developers so it is expected to come soon.
