WhatsApp is releasing a new beta update for Android devices with version 2.23.16.17. This release brings new changes to the app’s interface, notably the much-anticipated bottom navigation bar that aligns perfectly with Material Design 3.

The new beta update introduces a revamped bottom navigation bar with four main tabs – chats, status, communities, and calls. It also includes a chats tab and a floating action button that now resembles an incoming message bubble, enhancing user interaction.

Furthermore, the WhatsApp 2.23.16.17 update removes the swipe between tabs feature, a gesture introduced earlier but subsequently disabled to ensure compliance with Material Design guidelines.

Currently, the updated interface including the bottom navigation bar is accessible to a limited number of beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update and it is expected to expand soon.
