Google introduces work profile changes with Android 14
Google Android 14 brings significant changes to the work profile feature, enhancing user control over app behavior and interactions. One notable change involves the system behavior for paused work apps within the work profile that was reported last month.
Unlike the previous behavior where work app processes were killed upon pausing, Android 14 now suspends all work apps, including the profile owner app. This change maintains the work profile’s running state while restricting suspended work apps’ access to device features such as location, sensors, and visible notifications.
For developers, an important aspect to consider is the interaction between suspended task apps and notifications posted from individual apps. Although these notifications remain hidden from users, individual apps can access them, allowing notifications to be mirrored to other connected devices such as smartwatches or headphones.
In addition, app developers looking to monitor a user’s online or offline status can take advantage of new features to track work profile changes. Read full detail here…
