Surprise! Samsung Galaxy S23 starts getting One UI 5.1.1 update

Samsung Galaxy S23 series users are currently testing the Android 14-based One UI 6 beta in some countries. Meanwhile, Samsung has now started releasing an Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 update for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra users in the US.

One UI 5.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is currently rolling out for locked models on the Verizon network in the US and the company will soon expand this update in more countries.

The new One UI update brings new features and improvements to the Contacts and Messages app. In addition, it improves system security by installing the latest Android security patch released in August 2023.

This software update brings the latest One UI 5.1.1 enhancements, most up to date security patch and performance improvements.

Contacts

  • The Call Background menu has been moved to Contact Details.
  • Select a contact > Select the three dots (More options) > Select Edit call background to change the background of your contact.

Messages

  • When you share an image with the Samsung Messages app, the conversations and contacts tabs are now shown at the top for easy access.
