Samsung Galaxy S22 receives One UI 5.1.1 update with August 2023 patch

After the Galaxy S23, Samsung has started releasing the Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series, which installs the latest August 2023 security patch. The update is rolling out for locked models on the Verizon network in the US.

One UI 5.1.1 is the latest update that enhances security and performance. It introduces some new features for Contacts and Messages apps. You can now customize the call background for each contact by going to their Contact Details page, tapping on the three dots icon, and selecting Edit call background.

Moreover, you can also easily share images with your contacts using the Messages app. When you select an image, you will see the conversations and contacts tabs at the top of the screen, so you can quickly choose who to send it to.

One UI 5.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series comes with the One UI build version mentioned below.

Contacts

The Call Background menu has been moved to Contact Details.

  • Select a contact > Select the three dots (More options) > Select Edit call background to change the background of your contact.

Messages

  • When you share an image with the Samsung Messages app, the conversations and contacts tabs are now shown at the top for easy access.
