YouTube Music reveals the status of user-requested features

YouTube Music is updating users on the status of some popular feature requests. The team revealed that the company is not working on a bunch of features that some users really want such as custom playlist cover art, a standalone app for smart TVs and game consoles, or background play with ads for free in more countries.

As well, they also said they have no updates on turning off ‘viewer discretion’ content warnings, higher quality audio, volume normalization, or better upload and metadata editing options.

However, some features are coming soon or are already available in some regions. The sleep timer will be globally available with the launch of podcasts. In addition, real-time lyrics have been rolled out, and lyrics sharing is on the way.

Public play counts will also be added to top songs and public playlists. The team also suggested using the mobile app as a remote to control the YouTube app on smart TVs and game consoles.
