The recently launched Fairphone 5 comes with support for at least 8 years of software support. The phone ships with Android 13 and is guaranteed to receive 5-year OS upgrades. If the phone keeps working seamlessly, the OEM will extend the software support by 2 years, making it a decade.

Fairphone 5 is equipped with Qualcomm QCM6490 Octa Core extended life chipset that is built to last. It’s one of the main reasons the company is able to confidently offer at least EIGHT years of software support and updates. Not timely but the Fairphone will get at least 5 Android upgrades until 2031.

The Fairphone 5 also continues the Fairphone 4’s tradition of an extra-long warranty that is twice the smartphone industry standard. The company says that it wants you to use the Fairphone 5 for as long as possible, because the longer you use your phone, the lower its overall carbon footprint will be.
