Apple will roll out a software update for the iPhone 12 devices in France to solve the charges of breaches of radiation exposure limits. As the company doesn’t want to affect the sales of its recently released iPhone 15 lineup, it managed to end a row with French regulators.

France’s regulator ANFR is preparing to quickly test this update, which should bring the model into compliance with European standards and allow France to lift the sale suspension. Apple also released its statement saying the software is not arriving over a safety concern.

“We will issue a software update for users in France to accommodate the protocol used by French regulators. We look forward to iPhone 12 continuing to be available in France,” Apple said in a statement. “This is related to a specific testing protocol used by French regulators and not a safety concern,” it said.

France halted iPhone sales

Earlier, a French regulator asked Apple to stop selling its iPhone 12 in France. Notably, it was found that the iPhone 12 emits radiation levels exceeding European restrictions, giving fresh attention to old concerns about health and cellphone usage.

Later on, the Associated Press reported that the US phone maker disputed the findings, saying the device, released in 2020, has been certified by international bodies and complies with regulations. However, France’s Digital Minister earlier said that a software update could solve the compliance issue.
