Samsung’s One UI 6 Beta Offers Enhanced Control Over App Updates

Samsung’s software updates often include new version releases for select stock applications. Until the One UI 5.1.1, new One UI updates install newer versions of stock apps along with the software installation. Meanwhile, the new One UI 6 introduces enhanced control over app updates.

In the latest One UI 6 Beta, Samsung added a very small touch that allows users to choose whether to update specific apps alongside Android/One UI software updates. Users can now pick and choose which system apps get updated when installing a new software update on their Galaxy device.

In the software installation section, you will get a new option entitled “Choose apps to update.” It will let you mark apps that will get updated alongside the phone’s software update. If you deselect all apps, you will be able to install new versions through the Galaxy Store.

Notably, most of these apps can be updated through the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store, and both app stores have options to allow for automatic updates. Opting out of app updates could speed up the Android/One UI-based update process.
