One UI 6 Screen Curtain

Samsung is running the Beta Program of Android 14-based One UI 6, with a Stable release arriving next month. The new One UI 6 update will bring an innovative feature called Screen Curtain to your Galaxy device. It’s quite useful for consumers, let’s get into the details.

What is a Screen Curtain?

The One UI 6 introduces a Screen Curtain feature, which lets you turn off only the screen when required while running an app. By using the Screen Curtain feature, your Galaxy device will continue to run the app, while the battery consumption and heat generation will be reduced.

How to get and use?

  1. Install/run Good Guardians from the Galaxy Store and select ‘Battery Guardian’.
  2. After running Battery Guardians, select Add to quick settings window from the screen curtain menu.
  3. Now, if you only want to turn off the screen while running the application, try running the screen curtain added to the quick settings window.
  4. When the screen curtain runs, information about the currently running application is briefly displayed and the display remains in a low-power state.
  5. To close the Screen Curtain, touch the screen twice or press the power key.

Notably, an update may be required if you have already installed Battery Guardian. As a beta feature, unexpected problems may occur. If it is not necessary to maintain the Screen Curtain state, it can be automatically shut down and enter the screen lock state.

Things to remember: Samsung One UI 6’s Screen Curtain function is not supported during calls or games. In case you encounter any problems or have suggestions during use, please register with Samsung Members through your Galaxy device.

Samsung could layoff up to 30% workforce in China

Samsung Paris Olympic 2024

Samsung could soon start a broader restructuring in the Chinese market. Given the weak performance, Samsung said it would layoff 8% of its sales team in mainland China. The company could lay off up to 30% of its workforce in China by next year.

In a recent development, Samsung notified employees in mainland China about the layoff of nearly 130 positions (~ 8% of sales staff). The move is coming because Samsung is facing sluggish sales in the world’s largest electronics market.

The South Korean tech giant couldn’t stop laying off just 8% of its workforce. Korean media reports that the initial layoff would mark the start of a broader restructuring initiative, potentially reducing up to 30% of the workforce by 2025.

“The company plans to eliminate redundant positions to better allocate resources and enhance organizational performance,” Samsung’s China unit said.

The company is encouraging employees for voluntary resignations to avoid layoffs. If the reduction of voluntary termination falls short, it could pursue selected layoffs. The workforce reduction would help the firm struggle to retain past glory.

Per reports shared by Samsung, its China workforce peaked at 63,316 employees in 2013, which declined to less than 20,000 in early 2022. The company has also shut down multiple production bases in China over the past several years.
