During Korea’s extended Chuseok harvest holidays, Samsung Chief Lee Jae-yong visited the Middle East. This is part of a move to seek new business opportunities in the region and to encourage Samsung employees overseas.

Since 2014, Samsung’s Lee has been making international trips during the Korean holiday periods to inspect the company’s operations outside South Korea and meet local business executives in the countries.

The Korean tech giant revealed that Lee visited Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Egypt during this year’s Chuseok. Moreover, he inspected a mountain tunnel construction site for Saudi Arabia’s NEON smart city project in Tabuk.

Samsung C&T has begun the construction of a 12.5-kilometer (7.7 mile) tunnel, which will be part of the infrastructure of the long linear city The Line.
