Sizzling 7 years of OS upgrades support was the biggest highlight in yesterday’s Made By Google event. The Pixel maker outshined Samsung by a significant margin, years after lagging behind. Well now, I want Samsung to give 7 years of software support to Galaxies, including at least 5 OS upgrades.

7 OS Upgrades on Samsung – Is it possible?

Samsung can offer the same software support as pledged by Google i.e. 7 years of OS upgrades. The company is already offering the best possible support to Galaxy devices, which is not limited to flagships. However, a small increment in current OS support would do next year.

“We’re committing to providing seven years of software support for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, including the latest Android operating system, security updates and ongoing Feature Drops.” – Google said in a press release yesterday.

The US tech giant revealed that it has been working to secure long-term commitments from partner teams, and put the necessary testing infrastructure in place to make 7 OS upgrades on Pixel possible. Besides, the company pledged to deliver the highest quality updates to Pixel users consistently.

As Google made it happen, it shouldn’t be an impossible move for Samsung to follow. If flagship Pixels are eligible for such longer Android support, Galaxy devices are pre-eligible for the same. It would also help Samsung flagships have an edge over the premium Galaxy A phones.
