Disney plans to sell Star/Hotstar to Adani, Sun TV in India
Disney is reportedly in talks with billionaires in India – Gautam Adani and Sun TV Network owner Kalanithi Maran as well as private equity firms to sell its Hotstar streaming and Star TV business in the country.
Bloomberg reports Disney is exploring different possibilities, including selling some of its Indian operations or a mix of assets. Meanwhile, the discussions are in the very early stages and a deal may not necessarily materialize.

Back in July, Reuters reported that the company is exploring options to sell or find a joint venture partner. Since the launch of JioCinema, Disney and its streaming products like Hotstar have faced increasing pressure in India.
