US excludes Samsung from China chip equipment export ban
The US government has decided to indefinitely suspend restrictions on the import of American chip equipment to Samsung and SK Hynix factories in China. Both firms will receive semiconductor equipment made in the US without a separate approval process or deadline.
Recently, the US administration announced its intention to designate Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix’s chip factories in China as ‘verified end users’ (VEUs) through the export control authorities and the National Security Council (NSC) economic and security dialogue channel.

Samsung and SK hynix’ inclusion in VEU (verified end users) means that the application of the US export controls is effectively suspended indefinitely as US-made semiconductor equipment is supplied without a separate approval process or deadline.
