Reuters revealed that TSMC’s 2nd chip plant’s total investment is estimated at $13.3 billion (2 trillion yen), with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry considering providing up to around 900 billion yen. They will be the most advanced semiconductor products to be made in the country.

Notably,  TSMC has already begun mass production of 3nm semiconductors in Taiwan. If the second TSMC plant in Japan goes into operation, tax revenues from the entire Kumamoto complex are expected to surpass the government subsidies by 2037.
