Samsung Galaxy S20 series grabbing October 2023 security update

Samsung is sending a new update for the Galaxy S20 series, which installs the latest Android security patch released in October 2023 to improve system security and stability. This update is rolling out for 5G variants in Latin America and 4G variants in Europe.

Users of 5G and 4G models of Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones can identify the October 2023 security update through the One UI build version ending with HWI7.

The South Korean tech giant is rolling out a maintenance release for various Galaxy smartphones as part of the monthly Security Maintenance Release process. This SMR package includes patches from Google and Samsung.

Notably, Samsung provides SVE items (described here) to improve our customer’s confidence in the security of Galaxy devices. Besides security improvements, the firmware doesn’t bring new features or functional changes.

It is an initial rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all devices. You can check and install the update through Settings >> Software Update >> Download and install.
