With the latest Beta update, WhatsApp releasing a new privacy call relay feature for Android and iOS users. Post updating the app to the latest version, you will notice a new section called “Advanced,” placed within the privacy settings screen.

The newly combined Advanced section of WhatsApp brings the new Protect IP address in calls option, making it definitely harder for anyone in the call to infer your location by securely relaying through WhatsApp servers.

It’s worth noting that the call quality may be slightly affected by the privacy call relay feature because of the encryption and routing processes of your connection during a call through WhatsApp servers.

WABetaInfo notes, despite the possibility of a slight reduction in call quality, this security layer guarantees the preservation of your privacy, even when communicating with unknown contacts you’re not very familiar with.
