iPhone manufacturer Foxconn and the US-based chip maker Nvidia announced to build “AI factories” to promote the development of artificial intelligence technology. At an annual Foxconn showcase in Taipei, both companies’ CEOs announced the joint venture together.

Following the partnership, Foxconn will use Nvidia technology such as graphic processing units and cutting-edge GH200 Superchips. These AI factories or data centres will help to develop AI-powered vehicles and robotics and new generative AI services.

“Foxconn, the world’s largest manufacturer, has the expertise and scale to build AI factories globally. We are delighted to expand our decade-long partnership with Foxconn to accelerate the AI industrial revolution.” – NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang.

Nvidia official noted that it could speed up the training of robots and self-driving cars. It comes after a partnership between both firms signed earlier this year, aiming to develop autonomous vehicle platforms. They said that Foxconn electric vehicles would be made with Nvidia hardware.

Android 15 might let you share AI-generated wallpapers

Samsung Clock Style update

Google introduced the AI Wallpaper feature with the Pixel 8 series. The same functionality is also available in Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series thanks to Genini Nano. Now, Google is preparing to make AI-generated wallpapers sharable with Android 15.

Pixel’s ability to create AI-generated wallpapers is quite popular among users. Currently, the feature only allows users to generate stunning wallpapers and apply on the home screen and lock screen. Sharing with someone presently requires to be saved as a screenshot.

Threads user @the_husbandalorian discovered interesting evidence in the latest Beta. The company is working on a new option in Android 15 to share AI-generated wallpapers. A new share button is added on the preview screen in the wallpaper picker interface.

The preview will display how the wallpaper will be applied to your phone’s home or lock screen. The pencil button will allow you to refine the prompt used to create the wallpaper. Share button is all you need to share AI-generated wallpaper with others.

At present, the ability to share AI-generated wallpaper is broken. It suggests the feature is still under development and requires additional work. The next Beta might make it functional for Beta users, and we guess public availability with a Stable rollout.

Yesterday, Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence which will bring various generative AI tools to iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. The company has officially announced that it has partnered with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI to fuel AI power in iOS 18.

Craig Federighi’s full comment on the topic:

  • We think, ultimately, people are going to have a preference perhaps for certain models that they want to use, maybe one that’s great for creative writing or one that they prefer for coding. And so we want to enable users, ultimately, to bring a model of their choice. And so we may look forward to doing integrations with different models like Google Gemini in the future. I mean, nothing to announce right now, but that’s our direction.
