Gmail is changing the way users can access its “Help me write” feature, which is powered by Duet AI. This feature offers smart suggestions to help users compose better emails.

Previously, users had to tap on a floating button on the bottom-right corner of the Compose screen to launch the “Help me write” feature. Now, the button has been moved to the toolbar, next to the attachment, send, and menu buttons.

If the email is empty, tapping on the button will let users enter a prompt for Duet AI to generate a draft. If the email already has some content, tapping on the button will open a “Refine my message” sheet with options to Formalize, Elaborate, or Shorten the message. Users can also choose to Write a draft to get back to the prompt field.

In addition, Gmail for Android might be working on a new option to “voice compose” emails in the future. This option would allow users to draft emails with their voice, using Duet AI This could be a voice-based version of “Help me write”, or similar to the Assistant voice typing feature on Pixel devices.
