Google Photos bringing ‘Photo Stack’ feature to group similar images

Google Photos is a popular app for storing and managing your photos, but it can also get cluttered with duplicates and similar shots. A new feature called Photo Stack might solve this problem by automatically grouping photos together in virtual piles on the gallery page.

The Photo Stack feature was spotted in the code of the latest version of Google Photos by AssembleDebug on X/Twitter. The feature will work in the background and create stacks of photos that look alike, such as selfies, landscapes, or food. This will make it easier to find and browse your photos without scrolling through endless duplicates.

The feature will also be optional, so you can turn it on or off as you wish. You will also be able to change the top photo of each stack to customize your gallery. It will be a useful addition for those who want to keep their photo library organized and clutter-free.

The feature is not yet available, even in the latest version of Google Photos, but it might roll out soon. However, Samsung already offers a similar feature for the Gallery app known as Suggestions, which suggests users delete duplicate files, motion photo videos, and more.
