After updating to Android 14, some Google Pixel 6 devices that have multiple user profiles are experiencing a storage bug. The bug blocks access to media files and asks users to factory reset their phones, which can erase their data.

Google has acknowledged the issue and has released a Google Play system update to stop it from affecting more devices. In addition, the company is also working on an OTA update that will fix the bug for those who are already impacted and restore their media access without wiping their data.

The search giant is also trying to find a way to recover some data for those whose devices are stuck in a boot loop due to the bug. The company will share more details when available.

Google advises Pixel 6 users not to create or log into any secondary user profiles until the OTA update is available. The company also apologizes for the inconvenience. Users can check the Google Play update status in Settings >> Security & privacy >> System & update > Google Play system update.
