Samsung XR headset chip by Qualcomm to launch in early 2024
Samsung and LG are partnering with Qualcomm to enter the XR (extended reality) market. The upcoming XR headset from Samsung and LG is expected to be powered by the 3rd-generation Qualcomm XR chip, which reportedly launches in early 2024.
According to ETNews, the specific launch dates for Samsung and LG XR headsets have not been determined. However, the products could enter the market as early as the first half of next year. Qualcomm VP Swat also revealed that the next-gen XR chip will launch in the first quarter of 2024.
“We are involved in the glass sector, and Samsung has made a lot of progress since the announcement of collaboration with Qualcomm and Google.” – Hugo Swat, Vice President and Head of XR Division at Qualcomm Technology.
Back in February, Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google announced the XR, and this is the first time that cooperation between LG Electronics and Qualcomm has been confirmed. Samsung and LG are expected to make XR devices such as Meta’s Quest or Apple’s Vision Pro based on 3rd generation chips.
