Google seeks Beta feedback before it rolls new Messages features and UI

Google Messages has recently introduced several new features but without any official announcement. The app is now asking for beta feedback from users to make those features publicly available.

When you open a chat, you see a banner, “As a beta tester, you’re using a new version of Messages and we’d like to know what you think.” You can tap “Share Feedback” to use the same tools that other Google apps have. You can also find it in the Account menu under “Help & Feedback.”

The most amazing feature is Google account-based device pairing that replaces QR codes. The app could have asked for feedback on the device pairing page instead. The app is also bringing a new voice message recorder with a different UI and icon for some users.

Google Messages has also changed the home screen and removed the navigation drawer. It is testing other features like animated emojis, camera shortcuts, and conversation pickers. However, these features are not yet widely available.
