Keeping AI upgrade in focus, Samsung has reportedly aimed for 35 million shipments of the Galaxy S24 series. This mark is increased by over 10% as compared to the target for the S23 series. Interestingly, an early debut might help Samsung achieve its goal of increased shipments.

Samsung Electronics’ MX (Mobile Experience) Division has recently confirmed next year’s production of Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S24, at a total of 253 million units. However, there may be some adjustments depending on the market situation, but the business strategy has been confirmed.

To surpass the iPhone, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly considering a plan to implement AI-powered ChatGPT or Bard on the Galaxy S24 in collaboration with Microsoft and Google. This will be Samsung’s first opportunity to regain the leadership that was lost to Apple in 10 years.

The strategy is to apply “on-device AI,” which implements AI in the device itself to the upcoming Galaxy flagships to take on the role of AI Hub. Besides, Generative AI technology will be applied to core smartphone features such as photos, messages, and voice recognition.

Considering that over 75% of the Galaxy series is focused on affordable models, the future of Samsung phones is not bright. In the third quarter, the average selling price of Apple’s iPhone was $988, while Galaxy’s is about one-third of that at about $295.
