After a long two-year gap, Samsung brought a new 50-megapixel image sensor to the market. With the new ISOCELL GNK, Samsung aims to top the smartphone camera sensor market, which is currently dominated by Sony Group Corp.

Recently, the South Korean tech giant has launched the ISOCELL GNK 50-megapixel smartphone camera. This sensor comes 26 months after the release of GN5 in September 2021. Notably, Google’s latest Pixel 8 Pro is the first to be equipped with ISOCELL GNK camera.

It’s worth noting that Samsung’s GN series cameras adjusted pixel sizes to match their intended purpose as the series progressed through various generations up to GN5. The latest ISOCELL GNK has improved internal specifications based on the first version, ISOCELL GN1.

The latest GNK is expected to be used by various smartphones scheduled for release in 2024.
