Samsung’s Ray Tracing tailor-made for Exynos teased, coming after 2025

Samsung SAIT allegedly preparing to introduce a full ray tracing algorithm in Exynos. This indicates that the company wants independence from Qualcomm and AMD’s ray tracing technology.

Daily Korea reports that Samsung SAIT’s full ray tracing is more advanced than NVIDIA or AMD’s technology. Samsung’s full ray tracing applies ray tracing to all parts of the video.

The South Korean tech giant has developed a technology called “neural super sampling.” Simply put, neural supersampling is a technology that preserves low-quality images into high-quality images.

To implement full ray tracing as intended by Samsung SAIT, a higher-end NPU must be installed in the smartphone. The company is simultaneously developing an algorithm that implements full ray tracing and a chip to support it.

Samsung is expected to introduce full ray tracing in Exynos after 2025.

Ray tracing provides realistic lighting effects and reflections by calculating how light rays reflect off various objects in an image. High-end games played on PC and consoles can now be played realistically on mobile devices.
