Samsung and Naver are about to commercialize AI semiconductors. Developed by Samsung and Naver together, the AI semiconductors showed world-class performance in a large-scale AI model driving test, indicating that the super-large AI semiconductor technology has been secured.

ETNews reports that Samsung and Naver recently completed a demo of an AI semiconductor chip solution. The two companies signed a business agreement to jointly develop AI semiconductor solutions in December last year and secured commercial-level technology in about a year.

AI semiconductors made by Samsung and Naver are made of ‘programmable (FPGA)’. FPGA is a semiconductor that can be programmed to suit its purpose. Unlike general semiconductors (ASICs) whose circuits cannot be changed, the characteristic is that the circuit can be reconfigured as needed.

The AI semiconductors developed by both companies were found to have excellent performance in lightweight AI models. Samsung and Naver have come close to achieving their original goal of becoming an ‘efficient super-large AI semiconductor’.

It is reported that both companies have secured the world’s highest level of performance, especially in the field of ‘fine-grained pruning’, one of the AI lightweight technologies. Thanks to Samsung and Naver, Korea, which has a weak system semiconductor system, is also entering the global AI semiconductor market.
