Samsung’s Blue PHOLED to ship with Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7
Samsung has reportedly decided to commercialize the Blue PHOLED (Phosphorescent OLED) with Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7. While the Galaxy S flagships go official in the first quarter, the Phosphorescent OLED could go official with foldables as it is scheduled for the second half.
Red and green OLED devices use Phosphorescent materials with an internal luminous efficiency of 100%, but Blue still uses fluorescent materials with an internal luminous efficiency of 25%. Replacing blue fluorescence with Blue Phosphorescence can reduce OLED overall power consumption.

Deputy Director Daejeong Yoon of UBI Research said that Samsung Display is actively developing blue phosphorescent materials. Yoon added that the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials to which blue phosphorescence will be applied, with the set name B1.
