Gmail is one of the most popular email apps on Android, and it is regularly being updated with new features and improvements. One of the latest changes is the introduction of a navigation rail for Gmail on Android tablets.

A navigation rail replaces the bottom bar that Gmail used to have on tablets, and it offers some advantages. Now, the navigation rail and the compose button are always visible and do not disappear when scrolling. This makes it easier to switch between Gmail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet, or to start a new email.

When the tablet is in landscape mode, the navigation rail is on the left side of the screen, and it shows the icons and labels of the four tabs.

The new feature for Gmail on Android tablets is rolling out, and it may not be available for everyone yet. It is available with version 2023.11.12.x of the app.
