December 2023 security update rollout starts with Samsung Galaxy S23 [US]

Samsung has started rolling out the December 2023 security update for Galaxy devices and the Galaxy S23 series is the first participant to join the party. The update improves system security and stability by fixing a bundle of security flaws.

December 2023 security update for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is currently available in the US and can be identified through One UI build versions mentioned below.

  • Galaxy S23 – S911USQS2BWKA
  • Galaxy S23 Plus – S916USQS2BWKA
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra – S918USQS2BWKA

The update is rolling out for locked models in the US and the company will soon expand this update in more countries.

December 2023 security patch includes fixes of more than 60 vulnerabilities, of which 50 are of Google and others of Samsung. These include buffer overflow, AR Emoji, KnoxCustom Service, bootloader, SmartManager, Knox Guard, and Contacts. Check the full details here.

It is a gradual rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all models. If you are using a Galaxy S23 smartphone then you can get the latest update through Settings >> Software Update >> Download and install.
