Axel Springer is shutting down Upday, its news outlet by 2024 end. Samsung Galaxy devices, in 34 European countries, ship with Upday news pre-installed.

Following the closure, Samsung Galaxy devices will lose access to Upday news in Europe. Axel Springer plans to revive Upday as a “trend news generator” driven by generative artificial intelligence.

Notably, the new service of Upday is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2024. Notably, Axel Springer owns two of the top-selling German tabloids Bild and Welt, as well as Politico.

The main aim of Axel Springer is to transform its print media into digital media. So, if you own a Samsung smartphone in any of the European countries and use Upday, it’s time for you to look for an alternative.
