Samsung Galaxy AI

Starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung and most manufacturers plan to embed on-device AI into smartphones. The application of on-device AI in smartphones, capable of learning, inference, and computation, is likely to significantly increase the demand for high-capacity NANDs of 256 GB or more.

Additionally, the expansion of AI services by North American data center companies, leading to a general increase in server installations from next year, is also expected. The rise in NAND prices is projected to speed up the financial improvement of Samsung and SK hynix.

The global semiconductor market is seeing signs of recovery after a long-standing anticipation. Omdia recently published the latest market analysis revealing that global NAND sales are projected to reach $52.6 billion next year, scoring a 31% YoY growth.

This outlook marks a dramatic shift from this year’s 30% market contraction. In the last quarter, NAND market revenue climbed to $9.229 billion, a 2.9% growth from the previous quarter. The industry anticipates that the on-device AI market will drive NAND market growth.

Incredible! DXOMARK says Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the best camera foldable

Published

DXOMARK honored Galaxy Z Fold 6 as the world’s best camera foldable. The firm is often criticized for its camera performance reviews, especially for Galaxy phones. Samsung’s latest foldable is ranked at the top of the camera chart.

Seeing a Galaxy device leading the camera ranking at DXOMARK seems surprising. The reviewers haven’t evaluated the OnePlus Open, Oppo Find N3, and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. That is why, Samsung’s foldable has reached the top spot on the chart.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 shares the top rank with the Pixel Fold on the DXOMARK camera chart. Both devices scored 133 points, with Google’s leading given audio, display, and battery evaluations. DXOMARK hasn’t published the selfie camera score of the Z Fold 6.

The review notes mention that the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s cameras have “good exposure and fairly wide dynamic range”. In addition, good detail and low noise in bright light were mentioned, and details in long-range telephoto shots.

Additionally, DXOMARK pointed out that the Fold 6 features good depth estimation in bokeh shots and mostly accurate video exposure with a wide dynamic range. Nice colors in videos were mentioned too, and effective video stabilization as well.

Reviewers noted that the phone lags in general camera performance over its rivals in its price segment. If DXOMARK had evaluated foldables from China, things would have been opposite – the same way as bar-type phones.

Camera specifications:

  • Primary: 50MP sensor, 1.0µm pixels, 23mm equivalent f/1.8-aperture lens, dual pixel PDAF, OIS
  • Ultra-wide: 12MP sensor, 1.12µm pixels, 12mm equivalent f/2.2-aperture lens
  • Telephoto: 10MP sensor, 1.0µm pixels, 66mm equivalent f/2.4-aperture lens, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
