Google will distribute $630 million to eligible Play Store users in the US
Recently, Google announced to allow for greater competition in the Play Store and the distribution of a $630 million fund across the US. Following the terms of an antitrust settlement with US states and consumers, Google has agreed to pay a total of $700 million.
Google will pay $630 million into a settlement fund for consumers and $70 million into a fund, which will be used by states in the US. Following this, eligible consumers will receive at least $2 or more on Google Play spending between August 16, 2016, to September 30, 2023.

It’s worth noting that all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, joined the settlement. The company was accused of overcharging consumers through unlawful restrictions on the distribution of apps and unnecessary fees for in-app transactions.
Wilson White, Google’s VP for government affairs and public policy, in a statement, said the settlement “builds on Android’s choice and flexibility, maintains strong security protections, and retains Google’s ability to compete with other (operating system) makers, and invest in the Android ecosystem for users and developers.”
