Android Auto 11.0 brings Samsung-like icons for Galaxy users

Android Auto app is getting a new update with version 11.0, which changes the look of the icons to match the ones on Samsung devices. This is a major change for Android Auto, which usually uses the default circular icons from Google’s Pixel phones. The new icon change is rolling out now via the beta update of Android Auto 11.0.

The change is for both the app icons and the status icons in Android Auto. If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone connected to Android Auto, you will see the squircle-shaped icons for the phone, settings, and other apps.

In addition,  Samsung-style icons for cellular, Wi-Fi, and battery also appear. This makes Android Auto more consistent with the One UI skin that Samsung uses on its devices.

However, this change only applies to Samsung Galaxy phones. If you connect a phone from another Android device, such as Oppo or OnePlus, you will not see the same change.

Instead, Android Auto will use the icon shapes that are set by the phone’s software. This means that some icons, like Spotify, may look different depending on the phone you use.
