Android Auto users can now enjoy their phone’s wallpaper on car’s display
Google Android Auto has a new feature that lets you use your phone’s wallpaper on your car’s display. This feature is enabled by default, but you can also turn it off in Android Auto settings.
The new feature is rolling out to Android Auto users independently of the app version. Some users have reported seeing it on the latest Android Auto 11.0 beta, while others have seen it on older versions.
It works by syncing whatever wallpaper is on your phone to your car’s display behind Android Auto’s app drawer. This way, you can personalize your car’s interface with your favorite image.
However, the feature ‘use phone’s wallpapers in Android Auto” only works with static images, and not with live or specialized wallpapers. For example, the AI wallpapers on Google Pixel 8 are incompatible with this feature. If your wallpaper can’t be synced, Android Auto will show the last compatible wallpaper instead.
