Samsung bringing back GIF feature after removal in One UI 6.1.1
Samsung has confirmed that the GIF creation feature will be returning soon, after being removed in the One UI 6.1.1 update. Many users have expressed frustration with its absence, as they have been experiencing difficulties with GIF creation since the update.
The Korean tech giant has acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the removal of this feature and the community moderator has announced the return of the GIF screen recording function.
Previously, the Edge Panel allowed users to easily access different functions through a Smart Select panel. However, the new structure combined features for future improvements, especially with AI. Unfortunately, this change made it challenging to keep the GIF creation feature.
The community moderator has confirmed that the team is working on making the GIF creation feature easier to use within the new Smart Select layout. Because of these changes, the feature couldn’t be included in the latest update.
Samsung is now working on restoring the GIF function by the end of September. Notably, the company plans to roll it out in an app update around early October.
Along with bringing back the GIF function, Samsung will also be updating the app to make fixed functions more accessible. The company is listening to user feedback and is actively looking for ways to improve other aspects such as initial delay or area movements.
The official announcement has confirmed that GIF will come back. https://t.co/qGBJT9bKJ3 pic.twitter.com/3uupOXSfQ9

10 days in SDC24: One UI 7 Beta still unavailable
It’s September 23rd and Samsung hasn’t yet released One UI 7 Beta. Only 10 days left in the Samsung Developer Conference 2024. It seems the Beta Program isn’t happening this year as the official unveiling taking place soon.
Samsung officially confirmed Developer Conference 2024 taking place on October 3rd. It’s a mega event from the company, aimed at introducing software advancements such as artificial intelligence, Tizen OS, SmartThings, and One UI.
Galaxy S24 users are eagerly awaiting the One UI 7 Beta Program. However, there’s no sign of the testing activity so far. And there’s no certainty whether the Korean tech giant will begin Galaxy’s Android 15 Beta this year.
Last year, Samsung kicked off One UI 6 Beta in early August. The Android 14 went official in October alongside the Pixel 8 series launch. However, some major shifts may have led the company to delay the Beta activity.
CheckFirm hasn’t yet spotted any Beta firmware on Samsung’s server. It also puts the Galaxy phones’ Beta Program in question of existence. It makes this year’s SDC important for general Galaxy consumers apart from developers.
August was a crazy month for Samsung fans and Galaxy smartphone users. Many alleged One UI 7 screenshots surfaced online, claiming major changes. The Beta Program’s release date has also been rumored many times, but no one’s talking about that now.
We assume that Samsung has some fruitful announcements in its bag. As just 10 days remaining in the Developer Conference, we assume the activity to start next month. It is also possible that the company may reveal the rollout timeframe of the Stable build.
In a recent development, it was revealed that Pixel phones will get Android 15 in mid-October. Google is preparing to rollout the Stable update to general consumers. The company has also shifted its Beta trial to QPR of Android 15.
