Google’s newly launched Pixel 8 series supports 7 years of Android and security updates. Last October, the Android maker left Samsung behind, unseating it from the dominating rank. A new report indicates that Samsung could offer 7 Android upgrades to the Galaxy S24 series.

According to AndroidHeadlines, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra will get Android + security upgrades for 7 years. This decision will make the next-gen Samsung flagships remain excellently usable until at least 2031.

While Google’s Pixel 8 series only supports 7 years of updates, it would be cherry on the cake if Samsung expands the new policy to a few previously released flagships such as Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22 and foldables. Well, it’s unconfirmed whether 7 years will be Android + security or security only.

At present, the South Korean tech giant is offering four Android upgrades and five years of security patch support to flagship and various mid-range phones. As the current policy is expanding to more and more cheaper models, the premium portfolio might surely benefit this year.

Well, we are not far away from the official unveiling. The company is all set to hold the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17, 2024 in the US. Apart from Galaxy S24 smartphones, Galaxy AI and One UI 6.1 will also be unveiled on the Unpacked stage.
