Samsung finally begins rolling out Blood Pressure and ECG features to the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, Watch 5, and Watch 5 Pro smartwatches in India. Apart from a major firmware upgrade, the company has also released upgraded Samsung Health Monitor app.

This application allows you to use your Galaxy Watch to record and monitor your ECG and Blood Pressure data. After recording, you can save the data to your Galaxy smartphone and share the results with your doctors whenever required. The latest builds’ PDA versions are as follows:
- BWL1 – Watch 5 series
- HWL1 – Watch 4 series
Samsung’s update changelog mentions that the firmware will install a new Samsung Health Monitor on your Galaxy device. While the features are getting added to these wearables, the BP and/or ECG app is not activatable until necessary regulatory clearance, approval, or certificate is secured.

How to measure ECG
- Step 1. Make sure your watch is snug on your wrist, and then open the Samsung Health Monitor app.
- Step 2. Tap ECG on the screen.
- Step 3. Review the information, and then allow any necessary permissions.
- Tap Open phone app, and then unlock your phone.
- Finally, follow the on-screen instructions in the Samsung Health app on your phone.
- Step 4. Using your opposite hand, lightly rest one of your fingers on the watch’s Home button for 30 seconds. A countdown will appear at the top of the watch’s screen.
- Step 5. When the recording process has finished, the ECG results will appear on your watch. Swipe up and down to view your results.
- Step 6. If you are experiencing any symptoms, swipe to the bottom, and then tap Add.
- Step 7. Swipe through the list and select your symptoms. Tap Save to add the symptoms.
How to measure BP (Blood Pressure)
- Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your smartphone and log in with your Samsung account.
- Now launch the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch and go through the initial setup.
- Select the Blood Pressure option and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the watch.
- You need to proceed 3 times in total, and re-calibration is required after 4 weeks (28 days).
- You do not need a mobile or the Cuff blood pressure within 4 weeks after the calibration to measure the blood pressure with your watch.
- Measuring Position: Sit still and measure within 20 seconds.
