Apple unseated Samsung from global smartphone market supremacy in Q4 2023
2024 has begun and market analysis firms have now started to release their reports. While Samsung has dominated the global smartphone market throughout 2023, Apple unseated it from the top rank in Q4.
According to IDC, Apple has surpassed Samsung to become the world’s top smartphone vendor in terms of market share in Q4 2023. This isn’t done yet, the bad news is that Apple also defeated Samsung in 2023 overall shipments.

In the fourth quarter, Apple shipped 80.5 million iPhone units, representing an 11.6% YoY increase. Apple secured the highest 24.7% market share, while Samsung ended up losing 10.9% share YoY in Q4 only.
“While we saw some strong growth from low-end Android players like Transsion and Xiaomi in the second half of 2023, stemming from rapid growth in emerging markets, the biggest winner is clearly Apple,” IDC said.
