Google has rolled out a new Play System Update for Android 14 devices in January 2024. It brings a minor but useful feature for users who want more control over their photos and videos permissions.

According to the information by @MishaalRahman, the fresh update adds a new button in the settings that allows users to reselect which photos and videos they want to grant access to an app. The update is rolling out to Android 14 devices now, and users can check for the update in the settings.

Android 14 offers a “Selected Photos Access” feature, which lets users grant apps partial access to their media gallery. Instead of giving an app full access to all their photos and videos, users can choose which media items they want to share with the app using the Android Photo Picker. This feature gives users more privacy and security over their personal media.

However, some apps may not recognize when they have been granted partial access to media items, and may not offer the user an option to select more items later. For that, the Google Play System Update adds a new button in the settings that lets users reselect which photos and videos they want to grant access to an app.

Users can go to Settings >> Security & Privacy >> Privacy >> Permission Manager >> Photos and videos and tap the pencil icon next to “ask every time” to reselect items. This way, users can easily change their photos and videos permissions for any app without compromising their privacy and security.
