Three days after Samsung Galaxy S24’s unveiling, Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. The company, like last year, revealed that the 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is the fastest Mobile Platform crafted in history.

Samsung will ship the Galaxy S24’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy variants in countries like the US and Canada. The base and Plus variants will be available in Exynos 2400 chip models in all other markets, while the S24 Ultra uses Snapdragon chip internationally.

Over the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm’s new “for Galaxy” is exclusively designed for the Galaxy S24 series. The chip is fabricated by TSMC’s 4nm process node and brings an Octa-core configuration including 3.39 GHz, 3.1 GHz, 2.9 GHz and 2.2 GHz CPU core frequencies.

The US chip designer also noted that this processor packs Ray Tracing with Global Illumination so you can game with lifelike lighting effects. Brief info about Ray Tracing and Global Illumination can be found below:

  • Ray Tracing is a method for rendering 3D scenes by simulating how light rays bounce off objects and materials.
  • Global illumination is a more advanced form of ray tracing, which adds to the local model by reflecting light from surrounding surfaces to the object.
