Samsung, Apple racing for no-prick glucose, blood pressure monitoring
At the Unpacked event, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Ring is in the works. Moving on, it has been revealed that Samsung and Apple are racing for the development of noninvasive glucose monitoring and continuous blood pressure checking.
In a recent development, Samsung executive Hon Pak disclosed that the development of noninvasive glucose monitoring and continuous blood pressure checking technologies is part of a broader push to put health features in a range of devices, including the upcoming Galaxy Ring.

Major brands like Samsung, Apple, and Google are already featuring health-tracking capabilities in their smartphone and smartwatches. While the Samsung exec revealed the upcoming features, he didn’t share any certain timeframe of arrival but hopes to witness it within five years.
“If we can do continuous blood pressure and glucose, we’re in a whole different ballgame,” Pak, Samsung’s mobile digital health chief, said during a wide-ranging interview. “I think that’s where everyone is trying to get to. We’re putting significant investment toward that.”
