Scratches? Cracks? Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts invincible display, Gorilla Armor

Samsung’s ambitious smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has become more durable with the application of Corning’s Gorilla Armor glass. Its durability is 3 times higher than that of regular tempered glass, so you can use it with confidence without having to attach a separate protective film.

Samsung has been using Corning Gorilla Glass products since the early Galaxy. Last year, the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 5 were equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Samsung and Corning have been working together to innovate various product technologies for 50 years.

At a recent press conference in San Jose, USA, the senior VP of Corning disclosed that Gorilla Armor is a product developed for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It has three times the drop durability and four times the scratch resistance compared to competitors’ aluminosilicate glass.

Gorilla Armor, Corning’s 9th generation Gorilla glass product, will be exclusively supplied to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Display visibility has also been improved. The reflectance of regular glass surfaces is around 4%, but Gorilla Armor’s is less than 1%. Thanks to reducing light reflectance by up to 75%, the Galaxy S24 Ultra allows you to enjoy a clear screen even on a sunny beach.

Even in a scratch resistance test with a 4kg load, Gorilla Armor did not show any noticeable scratches, while a competitor’s tempered glass showed scratches even under a 1kg load.

Usually, the load generated when wiping the screen or putting it in a pocket is about 1 to 1.5 kg. As fine scratches accumulate, the likelihood of the screen breaking when the phone is dropped in the future increases.
