Google Photos for Android introduces ‘Stacks’ feature to group photos

Google Photos is a popular app that lets you store, edit, and share your photos and videos. But sometimes, your photo library can get messy with similar or duplicate images. For that, Google Photos has introduced a new feature called Stacks for Android. This feature is already available on iOS devices, and now it’s rolling out to Android users as well.

The new feature automatically groups similar photos that were taken together within a short time. Through this, you only see one image in the main grid, while the rest are hidden in a stack.

You can tap on the stack to see all the photos in a carousel or a grid view. It also lets you choose the best one to represent the stack.

Photo Stacks uses AI to identify and group similar photos, and you can turn this feature on or off from the three-dot menu in the Photos tab. You can also change the top pick, remove photos from the stack, or delete all but the top pick to free up space in your library.
