Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 to ship with Wear OS 5 (Android 14)
Samsung and Google appear to be working on the development of the next Wear OS version based on Android 14. A new report indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 7 Classic will ship with Wear OS 5, powered by Android 14.
According to 9to5Google, Samsung is “actively” working to optimize an Android 14 build for the next Exynos wearable chip, which will power the Galaxy Watch 7. With all eyes on the company’s 3nm wearable chip, it looks like there will be a new OS as well.

Samsung is actively working to support a build of Android 14 for its next-generation Galaxy Watch 7 chip (Exynos 5535, as reported last week). In multiple locations, this build is referred to as “Wear OS 5.” – 9to5Google report says.
Before Samsung joined Google for the Wear OS platform, major updates arrived too late. The Android 9-based Wear OS 2.2 arrived in 2018, the Android 11-based Wear OS 3 arrived in 2021, Wear OS 3.5 introduced in 2022, while the Galaxy Watch 6 shipped with Android 13-based Wear OS 4 last year.
Upgrade from Wear OS 3.5 to Wear OS 4 didn’t bring significant tweaks and changes. Meanwhile, we can expect noticeable changes with the Wear OS 5 version on the Galaxy Watch 7. With a brand new chipset and OS, the next-gen Samsung smartwatches will take the experience to the next level.
