Samsung teased its upcoming Galaxy Ring product at the Unpacked event. The product is expected to launch later this year, ahead of the arrival of the company’s new XR headset. Meanwhile, Oura is closely monitoring Samsung to see if there are any potential intellectual property violations.

Oura holds a pretty cool range of smart ring wearable products. The company’s smart ring offers features like sleep monitoring, early illness detection, activity & recovery, heart health, women’s health, and stress. Oura ring supports both Android and iOS along with Apple Health Kit and Google Health Connect.

In an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” show, Oura Health CEO Tim Hale revealed that he doesn’t seem worried about Samsung’s plan to compete with Oura in the smart ring market. Hale said that Oura will closely monitor the development of Samsung’s new “Galaxy Ring.”

“It’s very important for us to protect the innovations that we’ve brought to the market,” he said, noting that Oura has filed over 150 patent for their product.

In addition, Hale said that “announcing that you have a smart ring is easy,” and it may be difficult for Samsung to design a wholly original product. “It’s a hard problem. It’s not easy.” As Oura is monitoring Galaxy Ring, it would be interesting to see how Samsung intros a completely original product.
