WhatsApp started to roll out a new v2.24.3.17 update to Android users on the Beta channel. The release indicates that WhatsApp is working on introducing a caption that marks chats as end-to-end encrypted in a future app update.

WABetaInfo managed to access the WhatsApp feature in the latest Beta build. The screenshot displays a new caption to assist users involved in an end-to-end encrypted conversation. It is to reassure users that their private messages remain inaccessible to unauthorized parties.

In particular, the new change consists of a padlock icon with the label “End-to-End Encrypted” prominently displayed within the top app bar. While existing chats are already end-to-end encrypted, the UI will join with future update for additional transparency.

At present, the encrypted chat caption is under development. While some Beta testers have got the indicator on the latest build, a wider rollout will follow shortly. Stay tuned with us to get updated with the latest WhatsApp insights alongside the Samsung and Android ecosystem.
