Samsung is getting ready for the integration of Google‘s Nearby Share and its own Quick Share feature, which allows users to share files wirelessly between devices. The latest update to the Quick Share app on Windows shows a new logo that reflects the upcoming joining of the two services.
For a long time, Quick Share has been a feature of Samsung devices and it also works on some Windows PCs with a dedicated app from the Microsoft Store. The app requires Intel-based Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to work.

However, the new logo does not mean that the app has received support for Nearby Share. The updated Quick Share app still only works with Samsung Galaxy phones that have the same feature. It is not clear if or when the app will be compatible with other Android devices that use Nearby Share.
Meanwhile, users who want to use Nearby Share on Windows can still download the official app from Google, which works on more Windows PCs than Samsung’s app. The app lets users share files with nearby devices that have Nearby Share enabled.

Samsung has reportedly outpaced Apple in the US smartphone market. The company occupied 38% market share from April 2023 to March 2024. Apple was the second vendor in terms of sales volume with 33% market share – 5% behind its rival, Samsung.
According to CIRP, Samsung sold more smartphones than Apple in the US. The study looked at sales numbers from April 2023 through March 2024. While Samsung grabbed the smartphone leadership crown, Apple remains the ruler in revenue generation.
CIRP report states that Apple generates more revenue even though it sells fewer smartphones than Samsung in the US. High-end phones sold in the country are in majority from Apple, with Samsung outpacing it with budget, mid-range, and flagship models combined.
A majority of iPhone sales – 64% – are what CIRP considers “flagship models” That’s significantly higher than Samsung’s share of flagship models at 42%. CIRP defines the iPhone 15 series as the flagship for Apple and any of the Galaxy S23, S24, Flip, or Fold for Samsung.
The South Korean tech giant is set to announce new foldable phones next month. The company’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 are coming with upgraded specs and features. However, the foldable segment is unlikely to give Samsung any significant push in terms of sales.
Talking about Apple, the next-generation iPhone Pro models will ship with AI features. The company is expected to benefit from the inclusion of artificial intelligence. The last year’s iPhone models may also gain a sales momentum following the next iOS update rollout.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 may launch at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The company has reportedly decided the Louvre Museum as its Galaxy Unpacked venue in Paris, France. It’s confirmed that the event will be held on July 10, 2024.
ETNews reports that Samsung picked the Louvre Museum in Paris as the best place to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. The company has sent out invitations for its next Galaxy Unpacked, which mentions that the event will be held at the ‘Carrousel du Louvre’ in the Louvre Museum.
Louvre Museum, Why?
The venue is similar to what Samsung picked last year to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Similar to COEX in Korea, Paris’ Carrousel du Louvre consists of event halls and shopping malls.
It’s worth mentioning that Paris’ Louvre Museum is one of the world’s three major museums along with the British Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung will launch various new hardware products at its next month’s Unpacked event. The company is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 7 Classic, Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
These upcoming smartwatches will be equipped with a 3nm Exynos processor. The upgraded processor will bring a sharp edge to Samsung’s wearable segment. One UI 6.1.1 for mobile, Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch, and new Galaxy AI features are also likely to debut.
