Beating Samsung, Apple became the world’s largest smartphone vendor in 2023. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy AI appears to be showing its magic as Apple reportedly lowered 2024 iPhone shipments, while Galaxy S24 is predicted to sell more by 5–10%.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 (upcoming) shipments will decline by 10–15% YoY in 1H24 and 2H24, respectively. The decline in iPhone sales is because of Huawei’s rise in the Chinese market and Samsung’s Galaxy AI approach in the global market.

Apart from this, the analyst said that foldable phones are picking pace gradually and consumers prefer foldable as their first choice for upgrade. Galaxy AI is a completely new thing, with the only competitor being Google which has way too little presence in the market.

Seeing the potential advantage of Galaxy AI, the South Korean tech giant has revised up the shipments of the Galaxy S24 series in 2024 by 5–10%. At the same time, the iPhone maker has revised down the shipment forecast of iPhone 15 in 1H24.
