Android 15 (One UI 7) will ensure full view experience on all apps
Google is going to launch Android 15 (codename Vanilla Ice Cream) later this year with several new features and improvements. One of them could be a change in how apps display on the screen, making them go edge-to-edge by default.
According to information via @MishaalRahman, a new app compatibility change named EDGE_TO_EDGE_BY_DEFAULT was found in Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3. This change would make apps cover the entire screen, including the status bar and the navigation bar areas with Android 15.

However, this change is not confirmed to be implemented in Android 15, as Google may decide to postpone it to a future release. Google has been working on improving edge-to-edge support on Android, such as updating the enableEdgeToEdge API to draw around display cutouts like notches and hole punches.
However, some apps may not be ready for this change, as they may have UI elements that overlap with the system bars. We will have to wait for the official Android 15 developer previews to see if this change will be implemented or not.
